Hogan Development Survey (HDS)

Hogan Assessment Systems Test Instructions

Follow these instructions to complete the Hogan Development Survey (HDS). The test will open in a new window, so you may alternate between these instructions and the test, or you may print a copy of this page.

Note that you must complete each Hogan inventory in one session, so please plan your time accordingly. Allow approximately 30 minutes to complete the test.

  1. Go to the website for Hogan Assessment Systems and select the flag that corresponds to your language of choice for completing the inventory. If you are not a native U.S. English speaker, you are welcome to use your native language, if available. Please note that your choice of language has absolutely no impact on the assessment results or the conclusions that will be drawn from the data.
  2. Log in using the User ID and Password provided in the email instructions you received.
  3. Complete the Participant Name (first, middle, and last), Unique ID (provided in the instructions you received), and Gender fields. Leave the “Age,” “Ethnicity,” and “Others” fields blank.
  4. Read the “Informed Consent” section near the bottom of the page; then return to the previous screen and click Submit.
  5. Click Start Assessment for the HDS. Complete all questions, using the mouse to select your answer. Leave no more than 5 items blank, or your test results may be invalid.
  6. When finished, click Submit and close the testing window. Your results will automatically be sent to MDA.
  7. If you were instructed to complete additional inventories, select the next test from the Available Tests list on MDA’s website and continue.
